MakerCash is a trading name of SymNex Consulting Ltd (registered in England and Wales under company number 10006091). This policy explains how we handle your personal data when you use our app.
The basics
MakerCash helps makers and craft sellers track their sales, materials, and finances. You’re in control of your data – we just provide the tools.
We collect only what’s necessary to run the service. We don’t sell your data. We don’t use it for advertising.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign up:
- Email address – required for login
- Name – optional, used for invoices
We use passwordless login – you sign in with a magic link sent to your email. We don’t store passwords.
Your business data
What you add to MakerCash:
- Transactions – sales, expenses, amounts, dates, descriptions
- Materials – inventory items, costs, quantities, suppliers
- Pieces – products you make, material usage, time spent
- Customers – names, email addresses, delivery addresses (for invoicing)
- Invoices – invoice details, line items, totals
- Receipt images – photos of receipts you upload
This is your data. You can export or delete it anytime.
Technical data
To keep things running:
- Device and browser information
- Error reports (to fix bugs)
- Basic usage patterns (which features you use)
AI receipt scanning
If you use our AI receipt scanning feature (Pro plan):
- Your receipt image is sent to our AI service for processing
- The AI extracts vendor name, date, amounts, and line items
- Processing happens in EU data centres
- Your data is never used to train AI models
- Images are not retained by the AI service after processing
- You review and confirm all extracted data before saving
This is optional. You can always enter receipt data manually.
How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide the MakerCash service
- Send you magic links to sign in
- Send invoices on your behalf (when you use invoicing)
- Generate your annual reports and exports
- Fix bugs and improve the app
- Send important service updates
We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Third-party services
We use trusted services to run MakerCash:

All services are bound by data protection agreements.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active.

When you delete your account:
- Personal data is removed within 30 days
- Files (receipts, images) are permanently deleted
- Backups are purged within 90 days
Tip: We recommend keeping transaction records for 6 years for tax purposes, but that’s your choice.
Mobile app permissions
Our mobile app may request:

We only access these when you choose to use them. We don’t access your contacts, location, or other data.
Cookies and authentication
Authentication: We use magic links (no passwords). A session token keeps you logged in for 30 days.

Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can:
- Access – download a copy of your data
- Correct – fix any inaccurate information
- Delete – remove your data and close your account
- Export – download your transactions as CSV, annual reports as PDF
You can do most of this directly in the app. For anything else, email us.
Data security
We take security seriously:
- All data encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
- Secure authentication (magic links, no passwords to steal)
- Regular security updates
- Access controls and monitoring
- EU-based infrastructure
Children’s privacy
MakerCash is designed for business use and is not intended for users under 16. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We’ll notify you of significant changes via email or in the app.
